Chapter One:
Graduation Morning
Graduation Morning
The sun shone through the open windows of the Gryffindor boys' dormitory. Everyone was in a hustle to get themselves looking presentable before the big ceremony (mainly for the parents) in an hour. However, two boys stayed cool in the situation, and they were James Potter and Sirius Black.
"Prongs, do we give a damn?" Sirius asked, lighting a joint and taking a puff. He looked at his friend warily.
"No, Padfoot, we don't give a damn." James answered, straightening his tie and messing up his hair, trying to give it the perfect windblown look.
"That's what I thought." Sirius said, giving his friend a devilish smile. He shook his head, taking another hit off the joint. "You're not going to get Lily back with your hair, mate. You really fucked up this time."
"Shut it. I thought he was going to kiss her." The bespecticled boy said, now fussing with his glasses. "Do these look crooked?"
"Who gives a shit about your glasses? You punched Snivellus out, Lily's going to hate you forever. You broke your promise, man. Chicks never forgive you for breaking promises. Trust me." Sirius said, offering the joint to James.
He ignored Sirius' reply about Lily.
"Ugh. Get that thing away from me. It smells horrible. Why the hell are you smoking that anyway? I thought you stopped." James said, grabbing his robes off the dresser and pulling them on.
"I did, but all the loose girls like it. I don't have time for substancial relationships, Prongs. You know that." Sirius said, finishing off the joint and throwing it on the floor, crushing it. "No more hiding it now." He laughed under his breath.
"See, that's your problem. You fuck and run, Padfoot. Maybe if you stayed long enough to learn the girl's name, you'd be in a better situation." James said, giving his friend a look.
"Hah, hah. Very funny, you fuckin' fairy." Sirius said, almost growling at his friend. "I'll remind you that you're the virgin, here. Even Wormtail got laid."
"Sod off." James said angrily. "Bones was wasted and high on just about every muggle narcotic there is, thanks to you. She doesn't count."
"Just because some people like to have fun doesn't mean that you have to be such a tightly wound prat." Sirius said smugly.
"You know, sometimes I want to--" Before James could finish his threat, two boys came running into the room pushing everyone aside. One brown haired and lanky and the other small and mousey.
"Prongs, the headmaster needs you. He needs to review your speech." The lanky boy said, brushing his long hair out of his eyes revealing a scarred yet handsome face.
"Moony, my love!" Sirius said, welcoming the taller of the two, his eyes bloodshot and glazed over.
"I hate being Head Boy, and, if Lily says one thing to me..." James grimanced.
"I smell pot. Padfoot, are you smoking again?" Remus asked, giving his friend a suspicious look.
"Why, yes I am, want some?" Sirius said, reaching into his pocket.
"No!" Remus yelled, holding up his hands. Remus Lupin was usually a generally well behaved boy. He was the one who always warned of the consequences to the groups actions. However, he never stopped any of them from causing trouble. "I'm fine, thank you." Also, Remus was a werewolf. Gentle as they come, but a werewolf nevertheless.
"P-Prongs, he's going to get mad." Wormtail, the smallest boy said. He was quite pudgy, and obviously timid. He was the least liked of the group. Most of the time he just followed the rest around, mostly Sirius.
"Wormtail, when have I ever cared if a Professor, Headmaster or not, was mad at me?" James asked, giving his hair one last ruffle before heading towards the door.
"Try not to get into too much trouble without me!" He shouted from the doorway. "Oh, and don't let Padfoot have any more weed before graduation. He might start to strip again, and we wouldn't want anyone to be subjected to that now would we?"
Sirius motioned a very rude gesture to James' back, and then went back to talking with Remus and Peter, trying to offer them anything and everything. However, nothing worked, and the three of them soon headed down to the Great Hall where the ceremony was taking place.

After the ceremony, of which during none of the boys payed any attention to, the four boys, The Marauders, were sitting out in the courtyard shooting the breeze.
"So, Prongs, what did Lily say?" Moony asked, leaning in closer to his friend.
"Nothing at all. She just kept on sending me these nasty looks." James shook his head. "I just don't understand how she can care about Snivellus so much. He's such a greasy -- Mum!" He shouted upon spotting his mother, followed by his father, walking toward the small group.
"Oh, sweetie! You were wonderful. Stunning, absolutely stunning, wasn't he, Jim?" His mother said, kissing him on the head.
"Yes, yes. James, I'm proud of you, son." His father said, giving him a smile and a slap on the back.
"Thanks." James said, blushing. He pushed his longish black hair out of his eyes, it still being horribly messy, and grinned up at his parents.
"I've got something for you." Mr. Potter said, pulling out a small box from his coat pocket.
Right away James knew what it was. His eyes grew large, and his jaw dropped.
"Dad, no, I couldn't." He said, reaching out in disbelief. He opened up the box, and his three friends crowded around the back of him to see what it was.
"James, you lucky bastard." Sirius said, staring down at the box with a smile.
"What is it?" Peter asked, confused.
Sirius looked at him in shock and disgust.
"It's only the one thing James has ever wanted besides Lily." Sirius said in a matter-of-fact tone. "It's his grandfather's lucky gold pocketwatch. The one he used to catch dozens of dark wizards, right, Jim?" He said, looking up at Mr. Potter.
"That's right, Sirius, my boy." The older man said with a slight nod.
"Even Moony's known that for ages, you prat." Sirius said until his voice to Wormtail who frowned and recoiled.
"Dad, don't you want to keep it?" James asked, taking it out of the box and gingerly holding it in his hand.
"No, James. You're going to be an Auror. You need this more than I do. I just work in The Ministry. I'm not going to encounter any dark wizards there I'm afraid." He said with a small chuckle.
James gripped the watch in his fist tightly, holding it to his heart. "Thanks, Dad." James said, looking up at his father with tears in his eyes. "I won't let you down." He said, jumping up and hugging his father.
"Oh, Jim, you've made my gift look like rubbish now." Mrs. Potter said playfully.
"Why, Mum? What is it?" James asked, wiping the tears out of his eyes.
"Oh, never mind..." She said, brushing him off. "You wouldn't like it anyway."
"Try him, Kris." Sirius said to Mrs. Potter, grinning. "And, maybe if he doesn't want it, I'd be glad to take it off your hands."
She laughed and shook her head. "Well, to be truthful, the present is for all of you."
"I like the sound of it already." Sirius said to Moony, who shushed him with a smile.
"Yes?" James said, motioning for her to continue.
"Well, Jim and I have transformed the downstairs sitting room into a personal party room for you four, fit with sweets and, more importantly, a bottle of Firewhiskey for each of you." She said, smiling.
Sirius jumped up and hugged the two adults.
"I love you, guys!" He said, feigning crying.
"Thanks, Mum." James said, giving his mother a hug, too. "Well, what are we waiting for?" He said, turning to face his three friends. "Let's party!"
